Injection of blown wool
Injection is extrusion blowing into a structure without dismantling it. Typical locations are the tops of the exterior walls of old houses and radiators, as well as the floor below, especially near the exterior walls.
Until the late 1950s, insulation materials were typically sawdust, shavings, moss, peat, sand and other natural materials. To some extent, demolition is still found in 60s houses. Sawdust has been sinking in these areas for over 60 years, leaving air gaps that allow the cold air to enter the house. Underneath the floor the cold air from outdoors finds it's way from the outside walls, which cools the entire floor and creates a feeling of draft. Thermal imaging makes it easy to detect these ares, but they are already clearly noticeable by the tenants.
Our method is to drill small holes into problem areas that can be explored with a cable camera. This will determine the actual situation of the insulation and the size of the space to be filled. Blank areas are filled by blowing pulp wool with a nozzle same size as the hole.
For the floor, it is sufficient that the drilling and blowing is done only near outer walls, on each frame, where a wall of blown wool is built to prevent the cold from reaching the floor. The holes are covered with tight caps.
Similar work is done for outer walls on the upper frames, and under radiators on the frames, where the sawdust has compressed down. This way the cold air is no longer able to pass through.
Injection diminishes the need for complete insulation replacement, demolition of walls and floors and the construction of new ones.
Of course, the walls can also be sawn open from the bottom, dropped and high-power vacuumed, and finally blown with pulp wool from above.
