Eko-Expert sells Foamit glass foam aggregate (hereinafter also referred to as Foamit), inflated, dumped and compacted with a vibratory plate. The product is classified as lightweight aggregates. It is an environmentally friendly insulating material. The material looks like ordinary crush, but is lighter and made from refined recycled glass.
Due to the manufacturing technology, glass foam does not contain organic substances and is also non-flammable. It does not evaporate or dissolve harmful substances in normal applications and does not present a significant risk of groundwater contamination.
Sufficient load-bearing capacity and granular fracture surface makes glass foam easy to use. It can be used in all types of foundation, interior fillings, frost protection, roof structures, yard covers and backfills.
Crawl space structures
The product is suitable for thermal insulation and frost insulation of buildings and for lightening of foundation. The Foamit crush layer has a heat insulation equivalent to a sand layer four times thicker at best.
In low-rise foundations, Foamit is used as thermal insulation and frost protection, as a lightening structure and as an internal filler. At the bottom of the crawl space, a coarse layer of Foamit crushes moisture from the soil, especially condensation in early summer.
For exterior filling, the product acts as both a frost insulation and an additional heat insulation for the basement wall, preventing ground warming and as a drainage layer. Ground pressure is a fraction of conventional gravel filling.
Foamit can be used as a filler material for midsole fillings of various thicknesses. Its light weight makes it easy to handle and the breakable shape of the granules makes it easy to move on top of the filling and, after sealing, the tile is easy to cast.
For floor tilting and filling, Foamit is used as a filler. Thanks to its grain shape, the tilt design is also successful. For thin fillings, Foamit is available in smaller grain sizes.
For renovation sites, the old filler floor, often containing organic material, can be replaced with Foamit. It is non-flammable and does not contain any organic or corrosive components, so no need to protect the metal parts inside the filling.
Yard and infrastructure construction
Foamit can be applied to all lower structural layers, with a load-bearing layer and a wear layer on the same structure, utilizing lightness, thermal insulation and load-bearing capacity, which results in significant savings in construction costs. The product is used in earthworks, for example. in lightening structures and in frost protection.
Thanks to its low bulk density and high friction angle, Foamit can significantly reduce structural loads on retaining walls and backfill. Ground pressure is a fraction of conventional gravel filling.
Due to the lightness of the Foamit, long distances do not significantly increase transportation costs. At most, more than six times the amount of foam crushed stone can be delivered at one time, compared to a regular gravel truck delivery.
